Micro Distillation Apparatus

The 800 micro fractional distillation apparatus handles challenging separations on the smallest samples (7-100 ml). Up to 30 theoretical plates at atmospheric pressure with spinning band technology and hold-up under 0.1 ml.

Built for research and analytical work where sample is limited. For larger charges see the mini fractional distillation system or lab scale 9600. Made in USA.

Micro Distillation Apparatus (800 Series)

Micro distillation is fractional distillation on milliliter-scale charges. When you cannot afford to lose material in a high-hold-up packed column, a micro distillation apparatus with a spinning band column keeps efficiency high and inventory in the column very low, typically less than 0.1 ml.

The B/R 800 is designed for difficult separations on small samples: specialty chemicals, high-value intermediates, petroleum micro-samples, and research mixtures where purity targets demand real column efficiency (up to about 30 theoretical plates at atmospheric pressure).

Systems can include automation for heating and collection, vacuum for higher-boiling materials, and fraction collectors for multi-cut runs. Contact surfaces are suited to laboratory chemicals; configurations are built for your application rather than sold as one-size glassware kits.

Questions

Micro Distillation FAQ

What is a micro distillation apparatus used for?
Separating very small liquid samples by boiling point when material is scarce or expensive. The 800 micro system uses spinning band technology so column hold-up stays under about 0.1 ml while still delivering real fractional efficiency.
What sample size does the 800 handle?
Designed for roughly 7-100 ml charges, with up to about 30 theoretical plates at atmospheric pressure. Exact configuration depends on your application. contact us with sample volume and boiling range.
Why spinning band for micro scale?
Spinning band columns combine high separating power with very low hold-up. On milliliter-scale charges, sample left in packing can dominate yield loss; the spinning band design minimizes that inventory.
Micro vs mini vs lab scale?
Micro: smallest charges (~7-100 ml). Mini: ~100-2000 ml with very high plate counts. Lab scale 9600: 1-50 L multi-liter work.
