Crude assay
TBP yields from IBP through the atmospheric range, typically to about 400°C AET.
ASTM D2892 true boiling point distillation of crude petroleum. Full, mini, and micro systems built in Easton, MD.
TBP yields from IBP through the atmospheric range, typically to about 400°C AET.
Repeatable fraction collection with automatic vacuum control, AET calculation, and a permanent record of every run.
Heavy residue goes to the ASTM D5236 vacuum pot still. Combined D2892 / D5236 platform also available.
Petroleum QC labs and crude assay labs that need true boiling point yield data on crude petroleum and crude blends.
ASTM D2892 is true boiling point distillation of crude petroleum with a 15-theoretical-plate packed column and controlled reflux. Typically run to about 400°C atmospheric equivalent temperature (AET). The fractions map the same cuts a refinery expects from atmospheric and vacuum units.
This page is the apparatus. The method text lives at ASTM International. B/R Instrument builds the column, vacuum, fraction collection, baths, and PC control so a lab can run D2892 without assembling a custom still from parts.
15-theoretical-plate packed column (Propak standard). Sample range about 0.5 to 60 liters depending on column diameter.
Request InfoSmall crude samples, 50 to 1000 ml, from IBP out to above 500°C on a single column.
Mini crude systemsVery small charges, 3 to 100 ml, IBP to above 500°C on a single column.
Micro crude systemsOne platform for TBP and vacuum pot still. Automatic collection of up to 8 fractions per vacuum sequence.
Combined system| Diameter | Packed Height | Sample Range |
|---|---|---|
| 70 mm | 91 cm | 15-60 liters |
| 50 mm | 80 cm | 6-24 liters |
| 25 mm | 57 cm | 1.2-4.8 liters |
Columns also available with mesh packing (Goodloe) and real plate distillation columns. 15 theoretical plates standard.
Sample size, column diameter, and whether you also need D5236.
